Survey polled 1,000 respondents nationally and 900 statewide in Florida

Respondents also share views on college athletes and mixing sports with politics.

The 2019 survey is the fifth consecutive survey conducted across the U.S. and in Florida on the topic.

About four in 10 said their overall donations for the year will repeat their 2017 levels

This year, more stores announced they will not open until Black Friday, November 23. A new survey by the Saint Leo University Polling Institute shows close to 50 percent of Americans and Floridians support retail stores being closed on Thanksgiving and will not shop on that day.
