Saint Leo University Ice Hockey
Overview
The Saint Leo University Ice Hockey Club is heading into its 2nd year of play and is comprised of SLU student-athletes from the United States and Canada. Since our founding back in 2022, Lions Club Hockey has participated in “exhibition” hockey leagues against some of the best adult recreational amateur teams in the Tampa Bay Area. Our first season was spent at the Lakeland Ice Arena, and we are very excited and happy to announce that all our upcoming exhibition season games for the duration of the 2023-2024 season will be played at Advent Health Center Ice which is just a short drive from main campus!
Beginning in the 2023-2024 season (Fall 2024), our involvement in the local adult recreation leagues will cease as we embark on an exciting journey by joining Division III of AAU College Hockey Union and College Hockey South (CHS).
Open tryouts are held annually at the beginning of the fall semester, and then as needed throughout the season. If you want to join our team as a player or help as a member of our Club Staff, then please contact us today! A recruitment link for players can be found below.
SLU Lions Hockey is a “club” team. The university, student-athletes, and generous supporters cover all expenses related to team operations, uniforms, equipment, rink time, travel, referees, etc. The team is further supported by our Advisory Board, which comprises student-athletes, faculty/staff advisers, and Alumni who volunteer their time and efforts.
We invite you to come out and cheer on YOUR Lions at Advent Health this season, as they wrap up their final exhibition season of play and prepare to pounce into a full Collegiate schedule in 2024!
