Internship experience is a key factor in obtaining future employment in the field of sport business. The ability to sharpen your skills, gain practical experience, build an impressive resume, and network with industry professionals is very important to future success.
Saint Leo is ideally situated within a one-hour drive of more than 50 sport organizations. Our location is unbeatable in terms of access to major sports and sport organizations.
Saint Leo's sport business program offers many opportunities for hands-on working experience as an intern. Participants in our internship programs have gained valuable (and exciting!) work experience with these key organizations:
Prior to the student's last semester of course work, all sport business majors should contact their advisor to discuss their progress towards eligibility to intern. The internship is scheduled during the student's last semester prior to graduation after all required coursework is completed.
Students must apply for the internship. To be accepted, students must have a 2.5 minimum GPA on all Saint Leo coursework. If a student does not qualify for the internship by holding the minimum 2.5 GPA, two options are available:
The internship is considered the key to gaining full-time employment in the sport business industry, although there are no guarantees this will happen. It is not the responsibility of Saint Leo University, the academic advisor, the Department of Sport Business, or the School of Business to find an internship placement for the student. However, if the student has been actively involved throughout their academic career, every effort will be made to assist the student in finding the best internship available that fits their career goals.

"Saint Leo students are go-getters that understand the overall picture. They are clearly more prepared than their peers, including those from other 'noted' sport management programs. They understand personal sacrifice, can be trusted with more than ordinary tasks, and they truly represent SLU in a first-class manner. Your program is the best internship program, bar none!"
