Types of Financial Aid

The financial aid process doesn’t have to be difficult, complicated, scary or stressful. The Student Financial Services Office at Saint Leo University is here to help you plan for and navigate through the financial aid application process.

Types of Aid Description
Grants There are several types of federal and state grant funds available to students.
Scholarships Saint Leo University offers internal scholarships. There are also external scholarships that could help you cover educational costs.
Loans Federal and private loan funds are available for students and parents to help achieve educational goals.
Federal Aid Saint Leo University administers the following federal-funded student financial aid programs.
State Aid Saint Leo University administers the following state-funded student financial aid programs.
Student Employment Student employment gives you the hands on opportunity to learn marketable skills, gain career experience, and develop a network of contacts.
Tuition Exchange Policy  Saint Leo University participates in The Tuition Exchange, Inc. (TE) program, a not-for-profit reciprocal scholarship program that makes it possible for the dependents of full-time faculty and staff at participating colleges and universities to apply for full tuition scholarships at partner institutions.
Military and VA Benefits Saint Leo University is approved for Military Tuition Assistance and Veterans Administration Funding.

It is important to note that not all students will be eligible to receive every type of aid listed in this section. Different types of aid (e.g. private scholarships, state grants, etc.) have different rules, called eligibility criteria, to determine who receives the aid.

Students with questions about their eligibility for certain types of aid are encouraged to contact Student Financial Services. Remember; the majority of financial aid is contingent on students completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).

Military and Veteran Benefits

  • Saint Leo University is approved for Military Tuition Assistance and Veterans Administration Funding. The Department of Defense (DOD) offers tuition assistance for voluntary, off-duty educational programs that support service members' professional and personal development goals.
