Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society

Honor SocietySigma Beta Delta, the international honor society in business, management and administration, was established to encourage and promote personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to mankind.

Sigma Beta Delta espouses three key principles: wisdom, honor, and meaningful aspirations. Members are challenged to pursue wisdom, to accept honor as a constant companion, and to aspire to goals that will chart them on the path of wisdom and honor throughout their lives.

Lifetime membership in the society is the highest international recognition a business student can receive at a college or university with a Sigma Beta Delta chapter. Saint Leo University was one of the original founding charters in early 1994. Today, the society includes 300 chapters throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Saint Leo Chapter News!

Consistent with the core value of excellence, Saint Leo's Sigma Beta Delta chapter has adopted a high standard for invitation to the society. The selection process considers both academic accomplishment and values exhibited by the student that are consistent with those of the university and the society's encouragement of service to mankind.

Induction to the honor society is conducted during the chapter’s ritual ceremony held at the main campus at the end of each spring semester.

Acceptance into Sigma Beta Delta is by invitation only. It is open to all juniors, seniors and graduate business students at each of the centers, online, and on-campus. For eligibility, students must have met the following criteria by the end of the calendar year immediately preceding the spring induction:

  • Juniors (minimum 24 SLU credits); Seniors (minimum 30 SLU credits); and Graduate Business students (minimum 18 SLU credits);
  • Rank in top percentage of class; and
  • Complete (at least) one class in the previous year.
