Commencement FAQs

What time will the doors open for each Commencement and Mass?

  • Mass Friday, April 28 Doors open @2:00 pm. Mass starts at 3:00 pm
  • Commencement (Worldwide) Doors open @ 5:30pm. Ceremony starts at 7:00pm.
  • Commencement (Graduate Students) Saturday, April 29. Doors open @ 7:30.  Ceremony starts at 9:00am. 
  • Commencement (Campus) Saturday, April 29. Doors open at 1:00pm. Ceremony starts at 2:30pm.

Are there places to stay in the area?

Are there extra tickets?

  • No, but once the procession is in the gym and the National Anthem is over, if there are seats available, guests will be permitted to enter. If there are no seats available in the activity center guests will be directed to Selby auditorium.

Where can I view the ceremony if I don’t have a ticket?

  • Selby Auditorium will be open as well as the SCC Lobby.  It will also be streaming over the Internet choose your ceremony then click the link below.  A broadband network connection and Windows Media Player are required to view the live event.

Where’s handicapped parking?

  • In Lot #1 in front of the Activities Center.

Will the Campus store be open Commencement Day?

  • The Campus store  will be open on Friday, April 28th until 6:30pm and Saturday, April 29th from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Where do I line up?

  • School of Business Building – only students are permitted into the building during the lineup

Where is Student Accounts?

  • 1st floor of Saint Edwards Hall

Where do I pick up my cords?

  • If you are referring to Honor Society cords, these are not provided with the cap and gown.  Contact the Honor Society Advisor.  International sashes – see Paige Ramsey-Hamacher in Student Affairs.

Faculty/Staff in the Procession - Where do I line up?

  • Student Activities Building – Where clock tower is located.

Where can we get lunch and dinner during commencement weekend?

  • The dining hall is open from 4:30 to 6:00 on Friday and then Saturday 11:30 to 1:00 for lunch.  The cost will be $10.00 per person.

Listed below are some helpful hints:

The majority of the seating available in the Marion Bowman Activities Center is bleacher seating.

Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended for both graduates and guests.

Guests should bring a sweater as it may be cool in the building.

Baby carriers and strollers are not permitted in the Marion Bowman Activities Center.

Children 2 and older must have their own seats and therefore must have a ticket. 

Though Saint Leo University does not anticipate any security problems during Commencement Weekend, in the interest of all guests attending the event, please observe the following restrictions:

  • No artificial noise makers, air horns or megaphones.
  • No umbrellas, poles, banners, large signs, flags or laser pointers, or incendiary devices.
  • No promotional items with commercial slogans or identification.
  • No alcohol is permitted at any of the events and ceremonies.
  • Please note: Due to safety regulations, no strollers are allowed into seated areas of the Marion Bowman Activities Center. Guests attempting to park strollers in these areas will be required to remove them. A stroller check area will be provided for your convenience at the entrance to the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
  • All items may be subject to search at all entrances of the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
