Journalism Club

"...to educate, inform, and entertain COL students, faculty and staff."

COL eNewspaper: Quick Bytes

Purpose

The purpose of the Journalism Club is to bring together students interested in journalism from all degree programs to discuss and research matters affecting our online campus; become engaged in activities related to journalism while adhering to the core values of SLU; and to extend an open invitation to the physical campus journalism programs in the spirit of collaboration.

Publication

The Journalism Club works closely with the SLU COL monthly publication, QuickBytes, and the physical campus' Lion's Pride, as well as actively participates in the online learning community.

Archived copies of Quick Bytes can be accessed in iRoar. Some of the topics have been: a showcase on the new Peer Mentors group; a guide to using the message boards; interview with a student pageant winner; parenting tips for students; financial aid scams; and a special article on Hurricane Charley which also appeared in SLU's main campus paper, the Lion's Pride.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone who is interested in participating and is officially connected with Saint Leo's Center for Online Learning as faculty, staff, or registered student. The SLU COL Journalism Club openly admits students to its membership and does not discriminate on any basis.
