Grading

All registered students receive a final grade at the end of each 8-week term. The numeric method for determining the letter grade assigned is the prerogative of the Professor as delineated in the course syllabus.

First Term Grades

Any student receiving a grade of “F” in a class during his/her initial term will be permitted to take only one class during that student’s second term at Saint Leo. The student must repeat the course in which he/she received the grade of “F”. If the student receives two failing grades during his/her first term, that student will repeat one course each of the next two terms.

Dean's List

The Dean's Lists is issued at the end of the Fall 2, Spring 2 and Summer 2 semesters. Those students enrolled full-time for two consecutive terms, earning twelve new semester credits with a term grade point average of 3.65 or higher are recognized by placement on the Dean's List. Certificates are mailed from the main University campus.

Grade Appeal

Should you receive a final grade that you dispute, students should contact the instructor within 30 days of the grade being posted on eLion. If the dispute cannot be resolved with the instructor, then you may elect to file a formal grade appeal. The procedure is outlined in the current Student Academic Catalog.

Grade Changes

The evaluating Professor of a student's course must submit all grade changes in writing to the Registrar. It is up to the student to contact the faculty member for such action. Once the Professor completes a Program Update Request (PUR), it is approved or disapproved by the Registrar. The student will then be notified of the Registrar's decision. All grades are final 3 months after they are posted.

Grade Point Average (GPA)

The grade point average (GPA) is determined by first multiplying the credit hours attempted by the quality points earned and then dividing the total quality points earned by the total hours attempted. Please see the Saint Leo University Catalog for full computation methods. Note: Quality points are awarded only for courses taken in residence.

Grade Reports and Permanent Records

Grades are available only through eLion in the Official Grade Report section. Please use your internet browser’s print button to print your Grade Report in the event that you need to present it to your employer for reimbursement.
