January Speakers: Bestselling Novelist and Major Sports Photographer
January 12, 2009
The university community
will be treated in January to presentations from two creative
individuals who chronicle very different aspects of American
life.
Both presentations will be held in the Student Community Center on
the main campus, and both are free and open to the public.
Best-selling author Dennis Lehane will speak and sign books at 7
p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13. Lehane is well-known for his mystery and
crime novels, including "Mystic River," which was turned into a
film by Clint Eastwood.
Lehane's newest work is an historical novel set in Boston after
World War I, called "The Given Day." His appearance is sponsored by
Saint Leo University's Department of English, Fine Arts and
Humanities.
The following week, as football fans nationwide anticipate Super
Bowl XLIII in Tampa on Feb. 1, the university community will be
treated to a video memoir by football photographer Wayne
Paulo.
Paulo's presentation, "An Englishman's Road to the Super Bowl,"
tracks his career, including his work on six Super Bowl
games.
Paulo will speak at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the Student
Community Center. His presentation is sponsored by Saint Leo
University's Distinguished Speakers Series.
Saint Leo's main campus is located at 33701 State Road 52, four
miles east of Interstate 75 (Exit 285). Parking is available on
campus.
