Concluding Talk in Series about Rescuers During the Holocaust

The Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies at Saint Leo University this week presents the final presentation of three in its 2013 series, “To Save One Life: Catholic and Muslim Rescuers of Jews in the Holocaust,” organized with the Franciscan Center of Tampa.
Each talk has been presented at both Saint Leo University and at the Franciscan Center to reach the broadest possible audience. Admission to the series is free and open to the public.
At 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, religious studies scholar Mehnaz Afridi, Ph.D., of Manhattan College will discuss “Muslim Rescuers of Jews During the Holocaust.” She will speak in the Student Community Center Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardrooms at University Campus. Her talk is scheduled to last until 3 p.m. The Franciscan Center presentation is at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, at 3010 North Perry Ave., Tampa, FL 33603.
Also helping to sponsor the series are: the American Jewish Committee of the West Coast Florida Region, the Florida Holocaust Museum, Suncoast Hillels, the Tampa Jewish Community Center & Federation, Saint Leo University’s Office of University Ministry and the university’s Department of Philosophy, Theology, and Religion.
