September 11 Memorials

Memorial events are planned at the main campus on Friday, September 11, to honor the lives lost and altered by the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The Omega Delta Sigma Veterans Fraternity – Beta Chapter will hold remembrance activities during the morning hours at the flagpole between Saint Francis and Saint Edward halls. First, the American flag will be raised, and lowered at 6:30 a.m. in accordance with military protocol. Then, at four points in the morning, “Taps' will be played, as is the custom with military funerals, in honor of the lives lost in the four airplane attacks. The salute will be sounded at these intervals:
At 8:46 a.m. to mark the time Flight 11 hit the North World
Trade Center (WTC) Tower.
At 9:03 a.m. to mark the time Flight 175 hit the South WTC Tower.
At 9:37 a.m. to mark the time Flight 77 hit the Pentagon.
At 10:06 a.m. to mark the time Flight 93 crashed into the Pennsylvania countryside.

At the end of the day, University Ministry will hold an outdoor prayer service in memory of those lost. Gather at 5 p.m. at the Dempsey Plaza between the Student Community Center and Student Activities Building to participate. If you would like to have a name read aloud in remembrance at the service please e-mail email@example.com. This can be the name of a person who died on September 11 or a member of the armed forces who died in the ensuing war on terror. A Mass will follow at 5:30 p.m. at Saint Jude Chapel.
