Saint Leo Student-Veterans Prepare for Future at National Conference
January 11, 2017
Saint Leo University was well represented at the recent 2017 Student Veterans of America (SVA) national conference that took place January 5-8 in Anaheim, CA. The theme for this year’s conference was Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders.
Fourteen student-veterans, active duty military, and ROTC cadets joined about 1,400 fellow student-veterans from chapters throughout the United States for various workshops.
Sessions were based on six tracks including career readiness, chapter management, higher education—including Veterans Affairs and education benefits and scholarships, research, student success, and SVA.
In addition, there was a job fair as well as résumé and transition workshops to assist students searching for employment after their complete their degrees.
Saint Leo was represented by student-veterans from University Campus, as well as the Adult Education, San Diego, CA, and South Hampton Roads, VA, teaching locations. The student-veterans are studying at the undergraduate and graduate levels. They will now share the tips they learned at the national conference with their fellow Saint Leo students.
