More than 150 to Graduate from Gainesville & Lake City Centers

Graduates from Saint Leo University's Gainesville and Lake City centers will be honored during commencement ceremonies this weekend. 154 degree candidates will receive their diplomas this year. The commencement address will be given by Statewide Emergency Operations/Homeland Security Administrator for the Florida Highway Patrol, Major Leroy Smith ’02. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 3 p.m. at the Phillips Center for Performing Arts in Gainesville, Fla.
Smith is a 16-year veteran of the Florida Highway Patrol, beginning his career in Venice and working through the ranks to his current status of being Statewide Emergency Operations/Homeland Security Administrator for the Florida Highway Patrol in Tallahassee. Smith graduated from Saint Leo University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in criminology. He is currently pursuing a master of public administration degree at Florida State University. Smith is a deacon for the New Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Loughman, Fla.
The Gainesville Center and Lake City Office commencement ceremony is one of 14 ceremonies this summer for students at the University’s many locations throughout the southeastern United States. The degree candidates have fulfilled the requirements for bachelor’s degrees in the following majors: business administration, criminal justice, elementary education, human resources administration, psychology, computer information systems, and health care administration.
