Admission decisions for the Master in Education - Reading Concentration are based on several criteria, including motivation, maturity, work experience, and leadership qualities, along with academic records and test scores. Each applicant is evaluated individually.

Admission Process

Admission to Saint Leo's graduate Reading program is a simple, straightforward process. Applicants should submit the following materials 60 days before the beginning of the term in which they wish to enroll.

1. Application
   Complete and submit the online application or download, complete and return the application for graduate admission.
2. Application Fee
   Submit a one-time, non-refundable $80 application fee.
3. Official Transcripts
   Send official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you've previously attended to the Office of Graduate Admission. A United States equivalency evaluation must accompany transcripts from foreign institutions, which must be certified by an approved evaluation service. Graduates or former students of Saint Leo University do not need to submit transcripts if they have been previously been submitted and are on file. Download Transcript Request Form.

   Submit two professional recommendations complted on forms you can download here.  Professional Recommendation Form.
6. Statement of Professional Goals
   Submit a written statement of 250 words or more that outlines how your educational and career goals match Saint Leo University's program.
7. Professional Teaching Certificate
   Submit a copy of your valid professional teaching certificate.
8. If GPA is Below 3.0 ONLY: Official Test Scores
   If GPA is Below 3.0 ONLY: Official Test Scores- If you do not have a 3.0 GPA or higher in your last 60 credit hours of study where you obtained your bachelor’s degree, a minimum score of 1000 (or its equivalent) on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or a minimum score of 410 (68th percentile) on the Miller Analogies Test ( MAT) will be required.
9. Financial Aid & Payment Options
   Determine how you plan to pay for the program. If using Financial Aid, complete the FAFSA online. It is in your best interest to complete the financial aid process as early as possible. Download Financial Aid Information Form.

After the application has been processed, the Director of Graduate Admission may contact the applicant for a personal interview. Completed applications will remain active for two years. Contingent admission as non-degree-seeking students may be granted only for up to six semester hours of graduate work.

International Students

Applications from non-U.S. citizens are accepted as long as they are able to show a financial ability to pay, meet all of the academic requirements for admission, and have taken the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). All international students whose native language is not English are required to submit the TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 80 (Internet-based test). Applicants holding an undergraduate degree from an academic institution within the United States, an English-speaking country, or from an institution where the language of instruction is English are not required to take the TOEFL examination.
