Help students uncover life’s mysteries, and empower them to use science for the better through hands-on activities that make science real and fun.
Combine a bachelors in Biology with an Education minor and build the skills you'll need as a secondary school science teacher.
Investigate cell chemistry and gene expression in newly renovated, industry-standard lab facilities. Explore conservation in the field—while kayaking in Florida’s mangrove forests, and trekking through Belize. Create lesson plans that foster curiosity and inquiry—and try them out in a practicum placement.
In 2011, Saint Leo’s Education department was named a national finalist for the Distinguished Program in Teacher Education Award.
The minor in Education helps prepare students to teach science at the secondary level. Besides working as educators, Saint Leo students find employment in government, industry and other health-related professions, and even pursue graduate study in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science. If you want to teach, many school districts and states will require a teaching certificate, which may require additional preparation.
