Why choose the Computer Science 3+1 Accelerated Degree Program at Saint Leo?

Students who join the Computer Science 3+1 Accelerated Degree Program will enjoy all of the benefits afforded by study at Saint Leo's Donald R. Tapia School of Business, accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). Other benefits include:

  • No entrance exams required for the graduate portion
  • Preferential admission to the graduate program
  • Gaining a competitive edge over their peers, graduating with two high-value degrees in less time
  • Ability to enter the workforce earlier, armed with an advanced degree that will likely increase career opportunities and earning potential
  • Savings by reducing the amount of tuition, fees and housing costs necessary to earn both degrees

How does the program work?

First you will complete the undergraduate curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, learning the design, development, support and management of hardware, software, multimedia and systems integration services. You'll gain a broad foundation with additional upper level coursework geared specifically toward developing your knowledge of the critical aspects of information assurance.

You'll then cap off your experience with the high-value Master of Science in Cybersecurity  program, designed to yield the knowledge, critical analysis and application skills necessary to assume a leadership role in the fields of information assurance and security as well as the emerging field of cybersecurity. You'll leave well prepared to work and lead effectively in today's ever-changing technology environment.

Students in the 3+1 Accelerated Degree Program follow the same undergraduate and graduate curricula as our traditional programs, but proceed at a faster pace. Earning a bachelor's degree of 123 credits in three years requires that students take a minimum of 41 credit hours per year, which may require a combination of on-campus, summer and online courses. Transferred credits will also impact program completion time. AP, IB and dual enrollment credits earned by high school students before graduation are accepted.

Students will need to complete the application for admission to their graduate program of choice at the completion of their second year.

Specialized Academic Advising

Because the time frame necessary to complete the program will vary depending upon each student's unique circumstances at the time of entry, academic advising is a crucial part of this program. Personalized, one-on-one advising from a dedicated accelerated degree program advisor is one of the hallmarks of this program and ensures that students stay on track for timely progress to graduation.
